About Us

The Capital Alpaca journey began in 2015 in Ireland, when Kim and Stuart Murray purchased their first seven alpacas. With no grand plan in place, it quickly became clear that alpacas were more than just pets, they were a passion. What started as a simple enjoyment of these unique and gentle animals soon grew into a lifelong commitment to breeding, learning, and sharing knowledge.
Today, Capital Alpaca is proudly run by the Murray family as a small, family-operated, British Alpaca Society registered alpaca breeding farm, nestled in the beautiful Cheshire countryside. As a family-run business, care, attention, and hands-on involvement are at the heart of everything we do. We breed our own alpacas on-site, focusing on excellent fleece quality, correct conformation, strong genetics, and calm, friendly temperaments.
We offer a range of services to support alpaca owners at every stage, including premium stud services using our carefully selected high-quality males, as well as alpacas for sale of both breeding and pet quality. Our breeding programme is designed to deliver consistent, reliable results while maintaining the welfare and long-term health of our animals as a top priority.
Education plays a vital role at Capital Alpaca. We provide educational courses for new alpaca owners and experienced breeders, helping ensure alpacas receive the highest standard of care. Our training reflects real-world knowledge and industry expertise, with Kim Murray being a Official British Alpaca Society Judge and a British Alpaca Society Affiliated Trainer. This allows us to offer practical, informative courses aligned with current best practice and BAS standards.
At Capital Alpaca, our philosophy remains true to our beginnings, a genuine love for alpacas, a commitment to responsible breeding, and a desire to support others on their alpaca journey. As a family, we take great pride in what we do and are dedicated to providing exceptional animals, expert guidance, and ongoing support to our clients.
Kim Murray of Capital Alpaca achieved official qualification as a certified Judge with the British Alpaca Society in February 2026, following years of extensive learning, dedication, calibration, and hands-on experience in the show ring. Her deep understanding of alpaca conformation, fleece quality, and breeding standards is further strengthened by her knowledge and co-ownership of Skin Imprint, a non-invasive tool of testing alpaca fibre density — an invaluable tool that helps breeders make informed decisions by identifying fleece traits and genetic potential at an early stage. This combination of technical expertise, practical judging experience, and commitment to continuous education makes Kim a trusted and reliable source of honest advice within the alpaca community. Whether offering guidance on breeding programmes or helping clients select quality stock, her integrity and depth of knowledge give buyers confidence when purchasing alpacas from Capital Alpaca. Additionally, Kim also offers educational courses, teaching new owners and experienced breeders skills surrounding alpaca care, fleece, and more. Click here to view our available courses.
