Like father, like son! This is a typical fleece of a Tornado cria (pictured is Snapdragon Stratus at four moths of age).

Toft Tornado is a light fawn male that has the very best genetics from over 20 years of selective breeding at Toft Alpacas. His pedigree can be traced all the way back to Purrumbete El Dorado, one of the legendary foundation sires of the Australian alpaca industry. Tornado is sired by Lavender Park Tulley, an exceptional stud who has sadly passed away, but who is continuing to make a marked improvement on the quality of alpaca in the United Kingdom through his own progeny. Like his father, Tornado is correctly conformed on a well-balanced, compact frame with a great breadth of chest. As he matures, he is maintaining a superfine uniform, dense fleece which is consistent to his extremities with excellent coverage.

Not only are they from the same sire, but Toft Tornado is in fact a full brother of Toft Timogen, a multiple championship winning superfine dark brown stud that has produced numerous champion-winning coloured offspring with dense, superfine fleeces. Timogen and Tornado are now unique in their genetics as unfortunately both their sire and dam have deceased.

We have a shared ownership of Tornado with Toft Alpacas. As such, he stands at stud at our farm for half of the breeding season, and the other half at Toft.

Tornado started working in 2018 and although it is early days, we have seen some great looking cria in 2019 from these matings. Time will tell as the proof is in the progeny, but we are confident as he maintains his positive traits Toft Tornado will be recognised as a very special male.
