The Reproductive Blueprint

Refined learning for alpaca breeders
Capital Alpaca is pleased to offer training on Modules 7 and 8 of the British Alpaca Society (BAS) training modules, designed for alpaca owners and breeders wishing to further develop their understanding of alpaca reproduction and herd management.
The course is delivered by Kim Murray, BAS Affiliated Trainer, following the recognised BAS training structure. Sessions combine formal teaching with discussion and practical insight, enabling participants to relate the material directly to their own alpaca herds.
These modules form part of the official BAS educational framework, providing structured learning that supports best practice within the alpaca industry. The course is particularly suitable for aspiring breeders and established alpaca owners who want to strengthen their knowledge of reproductive management and make informed, responsible breeding decisions.
Using approved BAS course materials, the training covers key areas of alpaca reproduction including:
-
Reproductive anatomy and physiology
-
Breeding management and planning
-
Genetic considerations and breeding selection
-
Pregnancy monitoring and herd reproductive management
-
Preparing for birthing and recognising potential complications
-
Cria care and early development
The aim of Modules 7 and 8 is to provide alpaca owners with a deeper technical understanding of reproductive processes and breeding management, supporting improved herd health, welfare, and long-term breeding outcomes.
This training provides an excellent opportunity to continue your alpaca education using recognised British Alpaca Society learning modules, while engaging with other breeders who share a commitment to responsible alpaca ownership.
