About our Courses
At Capital Alpaca, our BAS Affiliated training courses are designed to provide a welcoming, professional, and hands-on learning experience in a truly beautiful setting. Courses are taught by Kim Murray, BAS Affiliated trainer and BAS certified Judge, and held within our stunning, spacious converted barn, offering comfortable lecture-style teaching alongside practical demonstrations and interactive hands-on learning with alpacas. Delivered using official British Alpaca Society training material, our courses provide trusted, industry-approved guidance for both new and existing alpaca owners. Attendees receive copies of the course materials to take home, with plenty of opportunity to make notes and ask questions throughout the day. With a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, Kim combines her extensive knowledge and practical experience to ensure every participant leaves feeling confident, informed, and inspired in their alpaca journey.

Alpaca 101 - New Owners Course. Modules 1-3.
A beginner‑friendly introduction to caring for alpacas. Learn essential husbandry, daily care, health basics, nutrition, handling, and how to create a safe, supportive environment for your new herd.
The Alpaca Reproductive Blueprint - Breeding and Birthing Course. Modules 7&8.
A practical guide to breeding and birthing alpacas. This course covers breeding preparation, gestation expectations, cria delivery, postpartum care, and how to recognize and respond to common reproductive issues.


From Gene to Fleece - The Complete Alpaca Colour Genetics Guide. NOT BAS ACCREDITIED*
A practical and in-depth course covering alpaca colour genetics, DNA genotype testing, colour inheritance, breeding predictions, and advanced colour traits including grey and roan. Designed to help breeders make informed mating decisions, improve colour outcomes, and build long-term breeding programmes while maintaining fleece quality and conformation.
